Dermal Fillers Overview
Dermal filler is a synthetic version of the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid that already exists in our skin. The sugar-based protein acts as a sponge attracting water- giving treated areas a fuller plumper look. Over time, we develop creases, folds and sunken areas in our skin. Dermal fillers are perfect to help rejuvenate your skin with volume as well as accentuate natural contours.

How do dermal filler treatments work?
The process involves inserting the filler using a fine needle just under the surface of your skin into the deprived areas. You decide which areas you think need work and your aesthetic practitioner will also give their input. It is a quick procedure, lasting no more than 30 minutes, with little recovery time. The effects last up to 12 months, after which the filler is resorbed naturally by your body.

It is important to seek urgent medical attention if you develop moderate-severe pain, develop a grey/blue discolouration of your skin in the minutes/hours after treatment, or notice loss of vision as this can indicate vascular compromise and needs urgent review to dissolve the filler using Hyaluronidase.
All practitioners will come to every appointment with the necessary safety equipment to deal with any complications. If any queries regarding your treatment do arise, you can contact your practitioner using the e-consultation service or directly as they will leave their contact details with you.
What are contraindications for dermal filler treatments?
Dermal filler is a safe & widely used product in the field of non-invasive facial cosmetic surgery. However, there are some contraindications which, if present, would mean it is simply unsafe for you to have the procedure. At Fvce, we never compromise on safety, and so if you meet any of the following criteria, we would not allow you to book through us. There is some grey area with every case, and we more than welcome you to contact our dedicated medical team to get some free advice on whether you would be eligible for treatment:
- Active skin infection on the face/planned injection area
- Known allergy/hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid based dermal filler
- Known allergy/hypersensitivity to lidocaine
